Jamie D Raven is a London based singer-songwriter with heavy Country and Blues influences in his songs.
He picked up the guitar aged 13, taught himself to play and never put it down, adding self-taught piano, ukulele, bass, dulcimer, and a little cello to his instrumental abilities.
One trip to Nashville had him hooked on the country music writers’ rounds, he’s now a regular pilgrim to Nashville for back to back Listening Room and Bluebird trips! On his first flight home from Nashville he wrote “Highway of Life” on the plane home to London – half asleep on a night flight.
The drive he made from New Orleans, to Memphis, to Nashville helped spark three more songs, including “Thank Your Mama” which has Blues influences , born at the “Crossroads” site where Robert Johnson reportedly found his own blues inspiration.
As a young boy, Jamie’s mother introduced him to the music of Carole King and James Taylor, while more inspiration came from the music of Lenny Kravitz, Prince, Slash, REM, the Eagles and Aerosmith.
We’re very excited to be able to showcase Jamie’s own original songs here, mostly a fusion of Country and Blues, with every lyric, of every song, being true from his heart and with a story behind it. There’s also some interesting cover songs, where Jamie loves to add his own unique twist to other people’s beautiful lyrics and tunes.
